The company my associates and I started is Open Box Technologies, Inc; we specialize in incorporating digital media content into businesses' websites and general offerings. I serve as the VP of Software Development. Our website is http://www.obtech.net.

Besides Ruby, Rails, and related technologies, I am involved in the Gentoo (link) Prefix Portage (link )project. Though in alpha state, Prefix Portage provides it's users with a fairly stable, cross-platform software management system, and development environment (turning OS X into a much more usable environment for very long time GNU/Linux user like me). Catch me on freenode at #gentoo-alt as 'fafhrd'.

Hi - My name is Derrick Hemphill and I'm CMA's Corporate Recruiter out of the NYC office. CMA is a New York State certified woman-owned business with corporate headquarters in Latham, NY. We began as an executive search and placement service for IT professionals and expanded in 1984 to include information technology consulting. In 1990, we incorporated full-scale product development, training, and support services, which now includes Web-based system development and hosting services. I am joining the group because we, occasionally, have positions that come up where we are looking for consultants with Ruby experience. Consultants can call me at anytime at 646.839.1010 or email me at dhemphill@cma.com.

I've been around Albany all my life - started on mainframes back before PC's existed - transitioned to Client Server using PowerBuilder then started using ColdFusion heavily since '95 but have dabbled in just about everything else including RoR. I do a lot of JavaScript and Ajax work too along with some PHP projects that are currently underway. I own my own consultancy and I play drums in a rock band for fun (no money in it).

Since movig back upstate from Brooklyn I am living in Troy, NY and as VP of Creative Development at Open Box Technologies. OBT is a start-up focussing on internet video delivery and was started 3 years ago while we were attending RPI. We are active Ruby users, utilizing it within the Rails framework in our SesameVault video management web-app, as well as in our client side video and graphics toolkit called OBTk. I am excited to meet other Ruby developers in the area and share knowledge, experience, and beer.
